A big week for Oakwood High School girls’ varsity lacrosse as the team picked up its first win of the season, celebrated senior captain Taylor Shineman’s 100th goal of her OHS career and then watched as Shineman continued to tally goals, becoming the OHS all-time leading scorer.
The girls’ first win came against Miami Valley School April 9 on the road. OHS beat the home team 18-3. Junior Abby Taylor posted her first career hat trick, while junior captain Anna Millard added two goals, two assists and two draws controlled. Clara Minardi was close behind on the stat sheet, scoring two goals, with three assists and two draws controlled. Maddie McCue, Jaelynn Nelson-Mays, Tess Henderson, Ashley Pham and Janie Woods provided the rest of the goals. For Henderson and Woods, it was their first goals in varsity action.
OHS lost 17-8 to Carroll April 11 and 15-8 to St. Ursula April 12. Shineman scored four in each of those games to make her the all-time leading scorer with 108 goals.
The girls return home Saturday, April 20 to face Bellbrook. JV starts at 2 p.m., followed by varsity at 4 p.m.
