Oakwood High School girls’ tennis is celebrating some big end of the season achievements.
The doubles team of Sarah Hall and Natalie Connelly won the Division II OHSAA State Championship Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason. Hall and Connelly beat Columbus Wellington’s Alexis Burkhalter and Katie Zerbi 6-2, 6-4 in the championship match.
In singles, OHS’ Lily McCloskey advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to Columbus Academy’s Sydni Ratliff, the defending state singles champion, 6-3, 6-1.
OHS Varsity Coach Kim Gilbert is also being recognized for her contributions. The Miami Valley Tennis Coaches Association announced Gilbert will be entering the group’s Coaches’ Hall of Fame.
