OHS Track and Field Members Advance to Regionals

OHS Girls’ Track and Field Heads to Regionals


After a second place finish at Districts, it’s off to Regionals for members of the Oakwood High School girls’ track and field team.


The girls brought home four first place finishes from Districts held at Piqua High School May 16-18.  Grace Hartman won both the 1600m and 3200m runs, setting a new District record in the 1600m with a time of 4:57.08.  Mary Kidwell won the 800m run and Lily Eifert the long jump. 


OHS girls posted second place results in four events.  Grace Nyhan finished second in the 100m hurdles, with Elizabeth Vaughn placing second in the 3200m run.  The 4x800m relay team of Kidwell, Vaughn, Hartman and Clancy Robinson finished in second with a time of 10:05.94, just behind the first place team from CJ.  In the high jump, Carleigh Crowl came in second place with a jump of 4’10” in the finals.


Placing third for OHS and also advancing to Regionals were Sadie Knostman in the discus, Olivia Caplette in the 300m hurdles and Sarah Casebere in the high jump.


Securing points by finishing in fifth place for the team but not advancing to Regionals were Caplette in the 100m hurdles, Kathleen Conrath in the 300m hurdles, Emma Lindsay in the pole vault and the 4x400m relay team of Kidwell, Eifert, Caplette and Claire Parker.


The Regional Track and Field meet will be held at Piqua High School May 23-25.


Three OHS Boys’ Advance to Track and Field Regionals


Dolan Johnson, Kyle Lethander and Eric Powers will represent Oakwood High School at the Regional Track and Field meet at Piqua High School May 23-25 after qualifying at Districts May 16-18.


Johnson won the 1600m run with a time of 4:32.73.   Lethander won the 3200m run, finishing in 9:49.52.  Powers qualified in the 300m hurdles after placing fourth with a time of 43.17.


Others placing for OHS were Alek Zamonski 6th in the shot put, Dylan Michael 7th in the 3200m run, Caleb Dunn 7th in pole vault and the 4x800m team of Michael, Will Janning, Sam Munro and Powers 7th.
